| This formerly
active military base, now established as a public park, is a
1,480-acre scenic preserve with miles of hiking trails and bike
routes, plus beaches and picnic sites. Explore the recently
completed 2.5 mile stretch of the Bay Area Ridge Trail in the
Presidio. The trailhead is located near the Arguello Gate
trailhead, which starts next to the Presidio Golf Course
Clubhouse. Suggested trail parking in the Presidio is at
Inspiration Point, near the south end of the trail, and at
Battery East parking lot, near the north end. MUNI routes 28,
29, and 43 provide bus service to the Presidio. This scenic
trail accommodates both hikers and bicyclists. The public is
asked to stay on the trail and not disturb any wildlife or plant

www.ridgetrail.org. Recently redeveloped into one of the park's most scenic paths, the Coastal Connector Trail connects the Immigrant Point Overlook to serveral other popular hiking corridors. The trail begins at the overlook on Washington Boulevard just south of the Golden Gate Bridge. The Presidio Information Center is open
