Bordered to the north by Marina Boulevard, this affluent
residential area, adjacent to a bayside marina, boasts
remarkable views of the
Golden Gate Bridge, fresh breezes, and lovely homes.
Marina Green, a stretch of green grass running along the
edge of the Bay, is a favorite place for jogging, strolling,
picnicking, and kite flying. To the east, Fort Mason Center,
located at Marina Boulevard & Buchanan, was established by
Spanish soldiers in 1797. Former military warehouses and
piers now house museums and art and cultural groups. Reach

Fine Arts, a stunning Greco-Romanesque structure, was built
in 1915 for the Panama Pacific International Exposition.
Restored to its original condition in 1967, this stunning
rotunda, now located at Marina Boulevard and Baker Street,
is home to The Exploratorium, and is surrounded by a
swan-filled lagoon. For nearby shopping and dining, Chestnut
Street between Webster and Divisadero is a favorite for its
stylish shops and cafes. The Presidio, a formerly active
military base recently established as a public park, is a
1,480-acre scenic preserve with miles of hiking trails and
bike routes,plus beaches and picnic sites. The Presidio

shoreline extending from Marina Green to the Golden
Gate,features a restored tidal marsh, coastal dunes covered
with native plants, a shoreline promenade and sheltered
picnic area. The 2.5 mile stretch of the Bay Area Ridge
Trail starts next to the Presidio Golf Course Clubhouse and
accommodates both hikers and bikers. Muni runs shuttle buses
