BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM |

The Bay Area Discovery Museum is a hands-on
indoor/outdoor art, science and theatre
campus for children from toddler to 10.
Families can catch plastic crabs in nets in
Bay Hall’s life-size fishing boat, create
art in Studios 5 & 10, discover science in
the Wave workshop, and explore the Tot Spot,
an interactive learning environment for the
3 and under set. The Museum occupies a
complex of historic fort buildings in a
spectacular setting at the foot of the
Golden Gate Bridge. Adults $10; seniors (62
and over) and ages 1-17 $8. |

CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCES |
|
The California Academy of Sciences
re-opened in Golden Gate Park in
September 2008. Its sustainable
new home will include a 4-story living
Amazon rainforest exhibit, a 25-foot deep Philippine
coral reef display, a living roof
blanketed with native plants, the Morrison Planetarium,
and old favorites like African Hall with diaramas of natural habitats,
the Foucault Pendulum, and the Penguin colony. Come face-to-face with thousands of fish,
snakes,turtles, alligators, and corals from around the world, plus
enjoy a variety of programs such as animal feedings, meet the biologist sessions,
and hands-on demonstrations. Hours: Open Monday-Saturday 9:30am-5pm; Sunday 11am-5pm.
Admission: Adults $24.95; seniors ages 65+ and youth ages 12-17 $19;
children ages 7-11 $14.95; ages 6 and under free.

Public science center with exciting hands-on
experiences for learners of all ages. Learn
Pre-Columbian math, solve mysteries with the

exhibits are flashy, they do maintain kids'
interest and possess solid educational value
and the acclaimed William Knox Holt
Planetarium has shows on the weekends.

MUSEUM OF CHILDREN'S ART |

At MOCHA, museum means hands-on and interactive—sometimes even messy (don’t worry, they provide plenty of smocks)! Their programs help children grow intellectually, emotionally and socially through creative, open-ended exploration. Programs include displays of art, drop in art classes, field trips, camps and more. $7 per child/$3 per adult for drop-in and workshops; gallery viewing is free. |

Children and adults can explore the creative
aspects of art and science and make
discoveries about nature and the environment
by direct participation in classes,
workshops, special events, and clubs. Check
out our rotating exhibits, meet native
California animals, or hike along the trails
on Corona Heights Hill behind the Museum.
The museum features a petting zoo with mice,
snakes, lizards, and birds (including an
owl), an operating see-through beehive, and
a petting area. Drop in on Saturday between
10am-4pm (check their website for details)
to create all kinds of art and science
projects. Admission is free. |

| WAX MUSEUM AT FISHERMAN'S WHARF |

The Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf features
more than 250 life like personalities in
over 57 colorful tableaux, each carefully
detailed and lighted - many enhanced with
informative audio effects. With the museum's
frequently timely traveling exhibits, it is
considered the largest collection of wax
figures in North America. The most popular
section of the museum is The Gallery of
Fame, including sports heroes, royalty,
scientists, US Presidents, historical
personalities and entertainment icons22.

ZEUM

Zeum San Francisco's Children's Museum is a hands-on, multimedia arts and technology experience for kids. Its interactive, multi-generational exhibits focus on Animation, Video Production, Sound Production, Performance, and Visual Arts. Kids and families can make an 2-D and 3-D animated movie, star in a music video, and create a digital artwork. Toddlers can create build with big, soft blocks, wiggle through Zig-a-Zag tunnel, dress up in costumes, play in the puppet theater, and bouncing off the Colorforms Wall. There are two floors and six spaces to explore! The Zeum Carousel is an historic carousel that was formerly a beloved fixture at the San Francisco amusement park, Playland-at-the-Beach. The carousel<built in 1906 by Charles Looff features a whole menagerie of elaborately hand-carved animals, including horses, giraffes, camels and more! The Carousel is located on the corner of Fourth and Howard Streets and is open for rides ($3) 11am-6pm. The Zeum Theater hosts a variety of performances, screenings, presentations and concerts. Youth Ages 3-18, students & seniors $8; adults $10, children age 2 and younger free.
