Interested in learning more about the art and
culture of the world's largest continent? While
in town, check out the Asian Art Museum. With
more than 2,500 treasures on display from all
corners of Asia, exhibitions, complimentary
audio tours (in English, Spanish, French,
Mandarin and Cantonese), delicious pan-Asian
fare at Cafe Asia, and a store considered to be
one of the best museum stores on the West Coast,
you are bound to have a memorable experience.
Adults $12; seniors (65 and older) $8; college
students with ID and youths 13-17 $7; children
12 and under free. Free first Tuesday of every month.

BERKELEY ART MUSEUM : |

The museum's collection includes historical and
contemporary Asian art; early American painting;
mid-twentieth-century, Conceptual, and
contemporary international art; and California
and Bay Area art. Highlights include important
works by Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Albert
Bierstadt, Paul Gauguin, Helen Frankenthaler,
Jay deFeo, Joan Brown, Jonathan Borofsky, and
Shirin Neshat. The Pacific Film Archives screens
rare films nightly. Adults $8; seniors (65 and

CANTOR ARTS CENTER AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY : |

Art in 24 galleries plus sculpture gardens,
terraces, and courtyard. The Center's diverse
collections span 4000 years and the world's
cultures and number some 25,000 objects,
including the largest collection of Rodin
bronzes outside Paris. Nearly 100 contemporary
sculptures sited outdoors throughout campus.
Presenting a wide range of important changing
exhibitions, docent tours, lectures, gallery

THE CONTEMPORARY JEWISH MUSEUM : |

Since its founding in 1984, the Contemporary Jewish Museum has engaged audiences of all ages and backgrounds through dynamic exhibitions and programs that explore contemporary perspectives on Jewish culture, history, art, and ideas. Throughout its history, the Museum has distinguished itself as a welcoming place where visitors can connect with one another through dialogue and shared experiences with the arts. Embracing a range of artistic disciplines and media, the Museum’s exhibition program includes contemporary art and historical objects, film and music, conversations, lectures, literary readings, and other live performance. Dynamic and ever-changing, the Contemporary Jewish Museum is a non-collecting institution that partners with national and international cultural institutions to present exhibitions that are both timely and relevant and that represent the highest level of artistic achievement and scholarship. At the heart of our programs is a focus on education and outreach to the broader community with the goal of fostering interfaith and intercultural dialogues.

The De Young Museum’s building in Golden Gate
Park integrates art, architecture and the
natural. The de Young collection showcases the
museum's priceless collections of American art
from the 17th through the 20th centuries, and
art of the native Americas, Africa, and the
Pacific; plus important special exhibitions.
Paid parking is available in the Music Concourse
Garage, accessed at 10th Avenue and Fulton
Street, or Martin Luther King Drive and
Concourse Drive.

As one of the world's most innovative museums of
modern and contemporary art, the San Francisco
Museum of Modern Art collections include
painting and sculpture, media arts, photography,
architecture and design. The museum building,
designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, is a
work of art in its own right with its
distinctive slanting, striped skylight tower.
When you're done with your tour, rest your feet
at the cafe or indulge in some shopping at the

Sonoma. Founded in 1998, SVMA exhibits the work of local, national, and international artists such as Rodin, Rivera, Goya, and Picasso, to date staging 69 exhibitions attracting more than 100,000 visitors.
