This large indoor masquerade ball this year is happening the weekend before Halloween at San Francisco's famous and storied arena - The Cow Palace. The event fills six acres of space, with 5 stages of live headline music, top DJs, erotic performers, exotic dancers, and wild circus sideshows, plus visually dazzling sets, fantasy themed halls, BDSM demos, fetish fashions, all sorts of sexy shenanigans, and the tantalizingly offbeat, including a Spiritual Oasis and Human Petting Zoo. The event features many adult stars and celebrity guests, costume contests with over $10,000 in cash and prizes, and over 100 exhibits showcasing the latest in exotic fashion, erotic art, and adult products. Despite all the above, it's the costumes and outfits worn by the 15,000+ attendees - colorful, creative, and captivating - that make the show truly unrivaled. For adults only. An expo takes place Saturday 4-midnight and Sunday noon-6pm. Tickets are $20.

Produced by San Francisco's ShadowLight Productions, Ghosts of the River shares the untold stories of both sides of the divide. Martha, the daughter of the college president, much to the consternation of her husband, George, a "forty something" professor of history, invites for late night drinks a newly arrived on campus and ambitious young academic, Nick, and his naive wife, Honey. Fueled by prodigious consumption of alcohol, George and Martha ensnare the guests in their no holds barred verbal warfare during which the deepest confidences are betrayed, facades of civility ripped away, pretension and self respect destroyed. And yet the curious alliance of George and Martha survives the maelstrom of their drunken Saturday night and gives promise of redemption in the dawn of Sunday morning.

In the 19th-century Siam and Burma—two neighboring kingdoms in Southeast Asia—were renowned for their golden-roofed temples, lush gardens, and handsomely adorned palaces. EMERALD CITIES is the first major exhibition in the West to explore the rich but little known arts of Siam and Burma from this period. Many of the 140 stunning artworks—including gilded ritual vessels, mother-of-pearl inlaid furniture, colorful paintings, manuscripts, exquisite textiles, delicate ceramics, and more—were recently acquired by the museum from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and are on display for the first time. The Asian Art Museum is the exclusive venue for this exhibition.

A.C.T. Young Conservatory (YC) proudly presents Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan. Three teenagers living on a tiny island off the coast of Ireland in 1933 dream of escaping the dreary confines of their lives, but no one more so than “Cripple” Billy, a disabled orphan and village outcast. When the local gossip spreads the news that a Hollywood film crew is shooting a movie on a neighboring island, the three teens set sail to try for a role in the film—but Billy embarks on an altogether different kind of journey. This dark comedy by Tony Award–winning Irish writer Martin McDonagh, writer and director of the hit film In Bruges, delivers witty banter, piercing dialogue, and a cast of local characters as genuinely likable as they are imperfect, brilliantly performed by A.C.T.’s Young Conservatory. A talented group of young Bay Area actors makes up the cast of The Cripple of Inishmaan. The cast features Stephen Cirillo, Kayla Cushway (International High School), Lucie Fleming (Marin Academy), Christopher Garber (Crystal Springs Upland School), Owen Keith (Drew Preparatory), Kathryn Rich (Miramonte High School), Soren Royer-McHugh (Burlingame High School), Zack Scott, and Sarah Yarkin (Piedmont High School).
