The surrounding Bay Area Counties feature landscapes of

The Golden Gate Bridge connects San Francisco to the southern
tip of Marin County. Heading north over the Bridge, travelers
first encounter the cosmopolitan suburbs of Marin County, then
the beautiful valleys of wine country in Sonoma and Napa
Counties, and on to the ancient forests and untamed shorelines
of Mendocino and Humboldt Counties.
The Oakland-Bay Bridge extends 8 1/2 miles and links San
Francisco to Oakland and Berkeley in the East Bay, plus outlying
destinations including Vallejo, Sacramento, Yosemite and the
Lake Tahoe /Reno area.
Going south from San Francisco, travelers head down the
Peninsula through San Mateo County to points including the San
Jose and the surrounding Santa Clara Valley, popularly known as
Silicon Valley, then on to Santa Cruz and Monterey /Carmel. The
